Of course Evan got into the markers when I had my back turned! |
Back to school! It was our first day back to school
today after our unexpected break.
I was excited to get back and see my kids. But once again as we were approaching school, we were seeing
students walking away. They were
being sent home I assume for school fees again. So I had 12 of my 20 students today. Today the school was also starting its
midterm examinations which should go through Friday. So I will not be teaching lessons this week. There was some time this morning before
they took their first exam so I took the time to play Wordo (like Bingo but with
their vocabulary words) with my students as a review of all the English words I
have taught them. The kids really
enjoyed it, and it was a great way for them to review. Only problem was that they took their
English mid-term today and not a SINGLE word that I taught them was on the
test. I was confused because
everything I have taught them is what I was instructed to teach them, directly
from the textbook. Hmmm. And trust me, is not what I would be
choosing to teach them. Anyways,
the students did pretty well on their mid-terms as I marked the English
ones. They also took their
Religious Education mid-term today which seemed to go very well for them. Some parts of the midterm were
frustrating as the questions on the exam were worded tricky or just plain
weird, which in-turn made it more difficult for the students to answer. And the marking is very strict. There is no benefit-of-the doubt
here.

One of the Wordo boards-sorry I can't figure out how to flip it |
After school our car ran out of
gas again, but we were closer to town this time so Samson ran quickly and got
some more. He had to do this twice
as the first time there still wasn’t enough gas. Then we stopped at the market and supermarket in town.
