Overlooking Queen Elizabeth |
Today we went to Kingfisher. Kingfisher is a hotel that overlooks
Queen Elizabeth Park (where we did our safari). We just went for the day to enjoy the amazing view, do a
little swimming, and have a nice meal.
We paid 10,000 UGS ($4 US Dollars) to swim in the pools. There are two double-decker infinity
pools. So this means one pool is
under the other, and you can jump from the top pool down to the bottom one. Quite fun! When you are in the pools
you are looking over Queen Elizabeth National Park. We sat on the edge of the pool for hours watching elephants
grazing, a pretty surreal experience.
I had to remind myself that it was in fact real, and I wasn’t in a movie. This has happened numerous times since
being here. Life here is just so completely
different that sometimes you forget that you are living it. It was amazing just looking out and
enjoying the beautiful nature, and reflecting on my time here. I kept reminding myself to enjoy it and
take it all in because in just three short weeks I will be back home.
For a late lunch/early dinner
Katie and I split vegetable curry (something I have only started eating and
enjoying since being here) with croquettes (which are like fried mashed potato
sticks), and a Rolex (chapate and egg rolled up) and some Mountain Dews (and
later on a beer).
We were also able to stop at some more craft shops, which has kind of become a hobby of ours while here-just checking out all the beautiful handy-work of the women here.
